Ada Gahagen White

Ada Gahagen White age 102 of Marion, KY passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. White taught mathematics for decades at Crittenden County High School.  Ada and her husband, Robert, had been married for more than 75 years before he passed earlier this year. She also supported the family farm by keeping books well into her 90’s.  Ada loved to garden, preserve and share her harvest with others.

She is survived by a sister, Geneva Franks, Laurens, SC; a daughter, Linda White (Bohn) Frazer, Shawnee, KS; son, John (Freda) White, Richmond, KY; grandsons, Jeffrey (Angela) Gilmour, Elliott City, Md;

Bennett White, Bowling Green, KY; granddaughters, Laura (Greg) Stoner, Henrico, VA; Jennifer (Varis) Carey, Superior, CO; Ashley Frazer, Englewood, CO; Sarah White, Richmond, VA; great grandsons, Matthew Gilmour, Ellicott City, MD. and Robert Stoner, Henrico, VA and Jacob Carey, Superior, CO. In addition, there are two step grandchildren, Matt (Kate) DeMers and Rachel (Brad) Rice, all of Lexington, KY and two step greatgranddaughters, Claire DeMers and Daphne Rice.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee White, a daughter, Brenda Gilmour, her parents, Ella Reynolds and Elmer Maxwell Gahagen, as well as three brothers and one sister.

In her later years, she had several wonderful caregivers who enabled her to stay in her home. At the time of her death, the caregivers included Rhoda Tinsley, Nikole Brummett, Diann Shuecraft, Faye Conger, Peggy Easley, Diane Fox and Janie Miller. Further assistance was given and appreciated for a strong hospice support system led by her assigned nurse, Tina Travis.

Funeral services for Mrs. White will be held 11AM Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Myers Funeral Home, Marion, KY with burial in Mapleview Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday beginning at 9:30 AM and continue until service time at 11 AM.
