Billy James age 83 of Marion, KY died at Salem Springlake Health and Rehabilitation Center on June 24, 2026.
He was born July 26, 1942 to Merril B. and Margaret Franklin James. He was a lifelong resident of Marion, KY.
Bill served as a volunteer on the Marion City fire department beginning in 1961 at the age of 19 and continued his service for many years. He also served as treasurer of the Marion Cemetery Association until May 2026. Bill worked as a machinist for over 45 years and was a proud member of the Machinist Union Local #1720.
He was most proud of his service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the Marion Church of God. Dedicated to his family Bill’s favorite word was “papaw”.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marlene Belt James; son, Jonathan (Michelle) James; stepson, Scott (Teresa) Kayse; granddaughters, Katie Beth, Abigail & Caroline James; step grandsons, Lance & Parker Kayse. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 27, 2026 at 1 PM at Myers Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11 AM and continuing until service time. Burial will follow at Mapleview Cemetery.
