James Brown Obituary

James Vance Brown age 84 of Valparaiso, Indiana formerly of Marion, Kentucky passed away September 7, 2014 at Valparaiso Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Brown retired from National Steel in Portage, Indiana. He served on the Marion City Council for ten years and had also served as a Marion City Police Officer. He attended Emmaus Church in Crittenden County and was an army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by sons, Ron Brown, Marion, KY and James Brown, Portage, IN; daughter, Deborah Koleck, Portage, IN; sister, Anna Hall, Kuttawa, KY; 2 granddaughters Wendi Brown and Kelli Kalin; 3 great grandsons, Tyler Brown,Kane Graeber and Joey Kalin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Ray and Susan Pearl Polk Brown; wife, Mary Kathryn Moore Brown; one brother and one sister. A memorial service will be held at a date yet to be determined.  Myers Funeral Home, Marion, Kentucky is handling arrangements.
