Jesse Holeman Hughes

1ST. LT. Jesse Holeman Hughes age 93 of Marion, KY passed away January 1, 2014 at Crittenden County Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of the Marion United Methodist Church and the Mt. Zion Cemetery Board; retired from Potter & Brumfield and had served on  the Marion Airport Board, the Crittenden Livingston County Water Board, and the Sky Knight Flying Club.  He was a retired 1ST.LT. in the United States Air Force having served 30 years. Hughes served as pilot in World War II, flew a C-47 for troop carrier command, transported wounded soldiers out of the front line, flew POW’s out after the war. He was also a flight instructor for TCC and a squadron test pilot. He is survived by his wife Dorothy M. Hughes, Marion, KY; daughters, Debbie K. Goddard, Nashville, TN; V. Gail Sievers, Collierville, TN and Michelle L. Hughes, Marion, KY; grandsons, Wesley Chad Truitt, Franklin, TN and William Erik Sievers, Collierville, TN; granddaughter, Jessika L. Sievers, Collierville, TN. Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gretna Mae Holeman Hughes and one brother Thomas Leon Hughes. Funeral services will be held with military rites at Myers Funeral Home, Marion, KY on Saturday January 4, 2014 at 11 AM with Rev. Wayne Garvey officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.  Friends may call at Myers Funeral Home Friday, January 3 between the hours of 5 and 8 PM and from 9 AM until service time on Saturday.   Arrangements: Funeral services will be held with military rites at Myers Funeral Home, Marion, KY on Saturday January 4, 2014 at 11 AM with Rev.
