Roger Freeman Summers

Roger F. Summers, 77, of Marion, KY passed away Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016 at his home. He was born in Meeteetse, WY on September 7, 1938, the son of Freeman & Ruth (Sadler) Summers. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Benton. Mr. Summers loved to trade all kinds of things. He enjoyed hunting & fishing and antique tractors. He was an accomplished wood carver. Mr. Summers is survived by his:             Wife: Cyndi Summers of Marion, KY             Children:             Debbie Overturf & husband Harold of Marion, IL             Mark Summers of Herrin, IL             Alan Summers & wife Sara of Carterville, IL             Donald “Buddy” Seibert of Mountain View, MO            11 Grandchildren    7 Great-Grandchildren 1 Sister: Frances Avery of Valier, IL 1 Brother: R.K. “Ron” Summers & wife Kay of Thompsonville, IL Mr. Summers was preceded in death by his Parents & by Daughter-in-law: Judy Summers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 19th at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with Rev. Eddie Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be after 9:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorials in Mr. Summers memory may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home & Family Services in Carmi, IL.   Local arrangements handled by Myers Funeral Home. Arrangements: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 19th at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, IL. Visitation will be after 9:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial Service Sunday March 4th. 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Mattoon, Illinois
