It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Fritts, 85, who went to join her Lord and Savior on June 10th, 2025 surrounded by the love of her closest family members at Wellington Parc in Owensboro. Shirley was born on March 5th, 1940 to the late Roy Ashley Brown and Lennie Marie Hunt Brown in Marion, Kentucky. She attended Crittenden County High School where she met and later married her best friend and loving husband of 68 years, James Doyle Fritts. Shirley worked for more than 30 years at Potter and Brumfield before retiring. Upon retirement, she enjoyed living part of each year with her husband at The Good Life RV Park in Florida for over 18 years, enjoying the warm weather, playing card games, bike riding, and forging cherished friendships. In her later years, Shirley moved to Owensboro, Kentucky to be closer to her daughter, Debbie, where she was able to watch her great grandson grow. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, beloved grandmother, and cherished great grandmother who treasured her family and spent most of her time caring for others. Never one to sit still, Shirley was always the first to volunteer to lend a helping hand, and she was known for her kindness and generosity. She dedicated decades of steadfast service to her hometown church, Emmanuel Baptist, in Marion. While living in Owensboro, Shirley attended Crosspoint Baptist Church. She always said, “God’s been good to us,” and she strived to pass that goodness on to others.
Shirley is preceded in death by her sister Betty, brothers Joe and Tildon, and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Doyle, as well as her daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, Steve. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandson, Bryce (with his wife Sheena); granddaughter, Cassey (with her husband Ben); as well as her three great grandchildren, Rowan, Hudson, and Charlie. A loving and kind soul to her last day, she will be greatly missed. We love you, Mamaw.
Visitation will begin at Myers Funeral Home in Marion on Friday June 13th at 11am, followed by funeral services beginning at 1pm.Burial at Mapleview Cemetery.
